Wake CFD Validation Reports
Wake CFD Validation Reports
This site publishes verification and validation results for Wake CFD. Each report records the simulation conditions, reference data, results, and error metrics so that engineers can assess its applicable scope.
The primary published engineering track is density-based Navier–Stokes (DBNS), especially external aerodynamics. Pressure-based Navier–Stokes (PBNS) and Flux Reconstruction (FR) are in development. Their reports show results for specific conditions, not production readiness across those solver paths.
Wake CFD baseline version: 0.23.0.
0.1 How to Read These Reports
Each report provides the following information:
- Objective and reference solution: the physical phenomenon and published reference data being compared
- Simulation setup: geometry, mesh, flow conditions, and turbulence and numerical models
- Results and comparison: key distributions, integral quantities, time histories, and error metrics
- Reproducibility information: the input configuration and execution environment used
0.2 Verification and Validation Cases
For external aerodynamics, start with the SA flat-plate grid study, the RAE2822 transonic airfoil, the NACA0012 SA polar, the ONERA M6 wing, and the CRM DPW-5 SA mesh study. The HiLiftPW-1 Trap Wing adds a high-lift comparison; its report states where the computed stall remains unresolved.
The full directory also covers shocks and expansion fans, unsteady cylinder shedding, shear flows and jets, conjugate heat transfer, corner secondary flow, and static/Magnus coefficients. Each case describes what its comparison establishes and what remains outside its tested range.
