5  Mesh and boundary conditions

Connect mesh markers to domains and boundary conditions

Desktop imports SU2, CGNS, and Gmsh meshes and displays their zones and markers in the Project tree and viewport. The imported names are connected to mesh_zones and mesh_markers in solver input.

5.1 Basic workflow

  1. Import a mesh through Home > Import.
  2. Expand Mesh in the Project tree to check zone and marker names and dimensions.
  3. Create a Domain under the case and connect its zone.
  4. Select the Domain, then add boundary-condition types through Boundary.
  5. Connect mesh markers to each boundary condition and enter required physical values.

5.2 Required checks

  • Confirm that wall, farfield, inlet, and outlet markers are neither omitted nor connected more than once.
  • Connect 2D meshes to 2D cases and the 2D solver, and 3D meshes to 3D cases.
  • Required values differ by boundary condition, such as wall, farfield, pressure_inlet, and pressure_outlet.
  • Marker names must match their original names in the mesh file.

For shared setting definitions, first see Mesh and Domains and boundary conditions.
