CLEW, Inc. (hereinafter "the Company") regards the protection of users' personal information as a matter of importance and makes every effort to safeguard it. The Company complies with the Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable laws relating to personal information, and has established and published this Privacy Policy in order to protect users' personal information in accordance with those laws and to handle related grievances promptly and smoothly. This Privacy Policy may change as a result of amendments to legislation or the Company's internal policies; where it is revised, the Company will give notice through its website or by other means.
1. Consent to the Collection of Personal Information
The Company provides a procedure by which users may choose whether to agree to this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Service, and a user who chooses to agree is deemed to have consented to the collection of personal information.
2. Purposes of Processing Personal Information
The Company collects and uses personal information for the following purposes, including member management and the provision of services. Information collected is not used for any purpose other than those disclosed to the user in advance, and is not disclosed externally. Where the purpose of use changes, the Company will notify users of the change and take the necessary measures, such as obtaining separate consent.
a. To confirm interest in a software demonstration service, to verify the identity of a user, to identify users, and for other sales management purposes.
b. To provide the Company's digital content and other services, and to improve existing services.
c. To protect users and operate the service — including restricting the use of the service by members who breach applicable laws or the Company's Terms of Service; preventing and sanctioning conduct that impairs the smooth operation of the service, including abusive use; preventing account theft and fraudulent transactions; delivering notices such as amendments to the terms; retaining records for dispute resolution; and handling complaints.
d. To analyse service usage records and access frequency, to compile statistics on service use, and to provide tailored services based on that analysis and those statistics.
e. To use anonymous usage statistics from the Wake CFD software to improve the product. Specifically, these statistics are used to understand which combinations of solver, precision, and hardware are in use so that development can be prioritised; to determine whether abnormal terminations recur on particular configurations so that stability can be improved; and to judge the range of GPU architectures that should be supported. These statistics are not used for advertising or for user profiling.
3. Processing and Retention Periods
The Company processes and retains personal information within the retention and use period prescribed by law or within the period consented to by the user. The processing and retention periods are as follows.
a. Provision of goods or services: until the supply of the goods or services is completed and payment and settlement of fees are completed. Where any of the following applies, however, the information is retained until the end of the relevant period.
1) The retention period prescribed by the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce
2) The retention period prescribed by the Protection of Communications Secrets Act
4. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
As a matter of principle, the Company does not provide users' personal information to outside parties. The following are exceptions.
a. Where the user's prior consent has been obtained
b. Where required by law, or where an investigative agency so requests for the purposes of an investigation in accordance with the procedures and methods prescribed by law
5. Entrustment of Personal Information Processing
The Company does not entrust the processing of personal information to third parties. Should it do so, the Company will give notice.
6. Notice on Cross-Border Transfer of Personal Information
As a matter of principle, the Company does not transfer users' personal information overseas. The following are exceptions.
a. Where the user's prior consent has been obtained
b. Where a user acquires a license for a foreign-made program supplied by the Company
7. Rights and Obligations of Users and Legal Representatives, and How to Exercise Them
A user may, after completing the prescribed identity verification procedure, request the correction or deletion of personal information provided to the Company.
Where a user or their legal representative requests the correction of an error in personal information, the Company will not use or provide that personal information until the correction has been completed. Where incorrect personal information has already been provided to a third party, the Company will notify the third party of the outcome of the correction without delay so that the correction is carried through.
8. Categories of Personal Information Processed
The Company collects only the information necessary to provide its basic services, and obtains separate consent at the time of collection where information is gathered in order to provide services suited to a user's preferences and needs. The Company does not collect sensitive personal information that may infringe a user's fundamental human rights. The Company collects and uses personal information as follows.
a. Provision of a demonstration service
1) Required: name, mobile telephone number, email address, organisation and job title
2) Optional: intended use of the program
b. Handling of enquiries
1) Required: name, mobile telephone number, email address, organisation and job title
c. The following information may be generated and collected automatically in the course of using the website:
IP address, operating system information, browser information, cookies, date and time of visit, and other device information obtained using publicly known technologies.
d. Anonymous usage statistics from the Wake CFD software. The following items are transmitted once when a solver run starts and once when it ends.
- Solver type (FVM / FR) and analysis dimension (2D / 3D)
- Computational precision setting, and whether CUDA is in use
- Number of MPI ranks
- GPU model, architecture, and count
- Software version and build configuration
- Whether the program terminated normally
These items contain no information capable of identifying the user, and no case names, file paths, meshes, or computed results. Every item is either a compile-time constant or a fixed internal identifier, and the code responsible for transmission is designed never to receive the mesh, case, or result objects, so a case name or file path cannot structurally be included.
9. Destruction of Personal Information
Where personal information becomes unnecessary — because the retention period has elapsed, the purpose of processing has been achieved, or for similar reasons — the Company destroys it without delay. Where personal information must continue to be retained under internal policy or other legislation notwithstanding the expiry of the consented retention period or the achievement of the processing purpose, that personal information is moved to a separate database or stored in a different location.
a. Destruction procedure
Information entered by a user for a demonstration service or similar purpose is destroyed without delay once its purpose has been achieved. Where retention for a certain period is required for information-protection reasons under internal policy or other applicable law, the information is moved to a separate database (or, in the case of paper records, a separate filing cabinet), retained for that period, and then destroyed. Personal information moved in this way is not used for any purpose other than as required by law.
b. Method of destruction
1) Personal information printed on paper is destroyed by shredding or incineration.
2) Personal information stored in electronic file form is destroyed using a technical method that renders the record irrecoverable.
10. Measures to Ensure the Security of Personal Information
The Company makes every effort to manage users' personal information securely, and protects it in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable law.
a. Users' personal information is protected by passwords, and important data is protected through separate security functions, including the encryption of files and transmitted data and the use of file-locking.
b. The Company uses anti-virus software to take measures against damage caused by computer viruses.
c. The Company employs security devices that use cryptographic algorithms to transmit personal information securely over networks.
d. The Company maintains security against hacking and other external intrusion through means such as intrusion-prevention systems.
e. The Company restricts access to users' personal information to the minimum number of personnel, and conducts regular in-house and externally commissioned training for staff who process personal information, covering the acquisition of new security techniques and obligations relating to the protection of personal information.
f. Server rooms and similar facilities are designated as specially protected areas with controlled access.
11. Installation and Operation of Automatic Collection Devices, and Refusal Thereof
a. The Wake CFD solver automatically transmits the anonymous usage statistics described in Article 8(d) in order to improve the product. The solver gives notice of this in the console on first run. Users may refuse this collection by setting the following environment variable, in which case no transmission session is created at all.
WAKE_TELEMETRY=off 0, false, and no have the same effect, and the value is
not case-sensitive. Setting it in your user environment file (~/.wake/env, or %USERPROFILE%\.wake\env on Windows) removes the need to set it on every run.
b. This website does not use cookies and has no visitor-analytics tooling installed. Should cookies be used in future, the Company will reflect their purpose and the means of refusing them in this Policy and give notice accordingly.
12. Privacy Officer and Access to Personal Information
a. The Company designates the following privacy officer and privacy manager to handle enquiries and complaints relating to users' personal information.
1) Privacy Officer
- Name: Jeong Gyu Bak
- Position: Chief Executive Officer
- Contact: +82-70-7777-7145
2) Privacy Manager
- Name: Sung Min Cha
- Position: Database Administrator
- Contact: +82-70-7777-7145
b. Users may contact the privacy officer or privacy manager regarding enquiries about personal information arising from their use of the Company's services, the handling of complaints, remedy for damage, requests to access personal information, and similar matters. The Company will respond to and handle such enquiries without delay.
13. Remedies for Infringement of Rights
Where a user's personal information has been infringed and the user requires reporting or consultation, the following organisations may be contacted for assistance.
